SAFI City & Surroundings

The most attractive place in Safi is the sea castle, which was constructed by the Portuguese in the 16th century. While getting inside the courtyard, you will find many old commons of Spanish or Netherlands origin. Definitely, the handcrafts activity represents
one of the major factors for the economical and social development of Safi.
Among these main handcraft activities we find pottery.

The most important surrounding city to Safi is Marrakech : the red city. A visit to it is a must, to discover the medina and explore its labyrinths of alleys and experience the mass of people in the square of Jamaa El Fna, where you will find snake charmers, fortune and story
Not far from Marrakech is the valley of Ourika, typical of the high Atlas is particularly green throughout the year.

Crossed by the Ourika river, this excursion allows to discover the high of the high peaks of the Atlas mountains that surround the Valley.

The next charming town is Essaouira : an ancient Portuguese Fortress.
Its influences have given a unique result to the town, which became the first trade harbour of Morocco in the late 18th century. With a mild climate, it offers beautiful wild beaches extremely popular with surfers. Essaouira is reputed for its handicrafts, such as woodwork and silver jewellery.

Another exotic surrounding destination is Ouarzazate.
This full day excursion will take you across The High Atlas chain through Tizi N'Tichka pass, an imposing landscape with high mountains and traditional Berber villages.
When descending the east side of the chain, the landscape suddenly changes to an arid and desert panorama. In Ouarzazate, visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and the Taourit Kasbah.
